A shared reading experience
Connecting with OSOB
One School, One Book is a BRMS school-wide initiative designed to promote literacy through a shared reading experience. Each year a different title is selected and students, faculty and staff all read it over the summer. Throughout the following year discussion and activities around the book's themes are incorporated into our Advisory program.
This year marks our 8th year! Here are just some of the activities we've done in past years:
This year our OSOB choice is Eleven by Tom Rogers. Eleven is the story of a boy who turns 11 on September 11, 2001. It's a story of an ordinary boy having a very unordinary day and stepping-up to the challenges of that day. To kick off our summer read we have invited all incoming 5th graders to BRMS on June 21st for a day of activities. Students will meet in their Advisory groups, will participate in a design challenge and will be challenged to "rescue" a fellow student in a relay race.
