A shared reading experience

One School, One Book

Connecting with OSOB

One School, One Book is a BRMS school-wide initiative designed to promote literacy through a shared reading experience. Each year a different title is selected and students, faculty and staff all read it over the summer. Throughout the following year discussion and activities around the book's themes are incorporated into our Advisory program.
OSOB has been in going since the 2012-13 school year.  Here are just some of the activities we've done in past years:
  • Advisory Activity Days
  • "Change for Charity" fundraiser to dig a well in South Sudan
  • Tom Rogers, author visit
  • Pet supply drive
  • Visit from Maggie Doyne, founder of Blink Now
  • Book and crayon drive for the Kopila Valley School in Nepal
  • "Through the Halls of BRMS" a student-created guidebook
  • Advisory Cup competition
  • Trivia questions
  • Design challenges

Kick Off Event!

Each year on the last day of school BRMS kicks off the OSOB with a Kick Off event. This event not only gives us a sneak peek at our new book but it also introduces our incoming 6th graders to their advisory groups.
